So, to try and keep my mind off of my daddy, I started dabbling in craft making again. I have a love/hate relationship with crafting. I watch DIY videos on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram and look on Pinterest. I am like, I can make that! Have you done that too? Sometimes it turns out great, other times....well, not so great!

I made candy bouquets for Valentine's Day. They turned out really cute and we sold around a good many of them. I had so much fun making them. I am thinking of making more for this Valentine's Day. They are filled with cinnamon candy, Hershey kisses, 5 full size candy bars, a teddy bear, and a balloon. I might try to do them a little different this time. I would love to hear some feed back of ideas any of you may have. I also tried thinking about Easter Baskets, but those didn't go over so well.

Next up, Alex is preparing for boot camp. He signed up for Navy. This is something he has wanted to do since he was in middle school. He is scheduled to leave for boot camp on September 1st. It is August and we are preparing for his going away party. I am not ready for this, but so happy and proud to see the next chapter of his life unfold. The party was a hit or so I think. His friends showed up and hung out for awhile. We also had some family and other friends come by. I haven't seen him that happy in awhile. Yes, I cried for just a few seconds. It was only two weeks until my baby that has somehow overnight turned into a young man would be leaving for boot camp. Whew....tears!

The past few months have been hard. The hardest was while Alex was in boot camp and not hearing from him. He received one call and we received one set of letters. Not being able to hear his voice was difficult and I don't know how parents made it through their sons/daughters leaving for the military. The first call from him when he left boot camp was the best call. Hearing his voice and the happier tone made this momma feel so much better. He has his cell phone back and he feels more connected with the world again. He has so many plans and ideas of what he wants to accomplish while in the Navy. I just cannot stress how proud of him I am.

And cherry on top....Chris is a senior in high school!!!! How did all of this happen??? My 2 boys are not my little boys anymore. He chose to go to school on campus versus virtual. He is doing well and had track try outs this week for the last time. We received his senior pictures and they were so good. Chris is becoming such a great young man. He is thoughtful, humble, a hard worker, and has such a caring heart. He loves cars/trucks and working on them and building things. I cannot wait to see his next chapter of life after graduation.
