It's "Junk'in Day" and I had on my "Junk'in" shirt. So, last weekend I had a "Me" weekend! On Friday, I went to the new antique store on the square. They had some neat things in there. I didn't purchase anything though. I then went to visit my parents and sister for the rest of the day.
On Saturday, I got up early and was out the door by 9:30 am. I started my day at Calhoun Pickers. Most of the time I can spend hours in there and Saturday no different. The vendors had their fall decor out and most was on sale (even better). I purchased a little more than I probably should have (eyes opened wide). Their Christmas open house will be in November. Need to mark my calendar. Even though fall is my favorite.
From there I went to the Apple Barrel Antiques in Oxford. The vendors there had their fall decor out too. I found a few neat pieces here as well. They are a little pricier on things but they do have nicer older wood pieces. I took a few pictures of things I saw I wanted to share with everyone to show you what you mind find on a day out "junk'in".
The lamp in the first picture was so neat and made out of pipe. The second lighting piece would make a beautiful dining room or foyer piece. The old red light was just too cool not to take a picture. The mirror would make a pretty half bath mirror and the wine rack would make a cool towel or wash cloth holder. The basket of cloth pumpkins were just too cute and I bought 3 of them. The old bicycle wheel wreath I thought was a neat way to reuse something old. I have never seen anything like that. I also saw old vinyl records and an older record player at the Apple Barrel and just older vinyl records at Pickers for those interested in recorders. And "junk'in" isn't just for us ladies, guys there is stuff in it for you as well. Knives, tools, coins, and much more. "Antique" stores are somewhat pricier than a store like Calhoun pickers. Never be afraid to ask them to call a vendor to see if they will take a lower price. You never know until you ask. I will blog soon on some of the things I found and freshened up a bit. Until next time...keep "junk'in"!
